2018 will arguably go down as one of the biggest year in Nigerian music industry. Our wonderful and talented artists have definitely not disappointed us for the year in terms of the songs they released, and they all worth to have been bought/downloaded on every music sites like itunes, amazon, boomplay and so on. A lot of these achievements have been built on chart-topping and moment defining singles and i would tell the truth by saying compiling a list for this years Xtreme Magazine Top 10 Nigeria song for year 2018 gave a timely debate and reasoning, but had to arrive at the list of Top 10 Nigerian songs of 2018 after various considerations (based on youtube views, most downloaded, awards gotten, and various music chats). They are arranged in no particular order.

1. 'ASSURANCE' - DAVIDO

A song that became a slang, a trending topic, gist, and songs for lovers to confess their love. ‘Assurance’ was a smash hit and the drama with unveiling his girlfriend, Chioma was well deployed to wondrous effect, leaving many ladies jealous and wishing they were in her shoes. But still the song kept us grooving and feeling the love mood.

2. 'YE' - BURNA BOY

‘Ye’ is grooving song with consciousness and good life, Burna opened the year with his album ”Outside” which unearthed this gem of a record and the pop star’s biggest song yet. ‘Ye’ has been consistent all year long, becoming one the longest running songs on charts, radio rotations and also getting many awards and musical recognisions. Burna Boy delivered magic in the song; from the autotuned intro, the fine slow groove, the rythm and lyrics and the way his voice glossed over the monstrous beat produ ced by Phantom. Burna had proven yet again that he was the master of his own genre and a great follower of the Legend Fela and as proved his own uniqueness when he released his lates album Outside. Almost immediately, listeners singled out ‘Ye’ as a highlight from the acclaimedmusic work.

3. SOCO' - WIZKID FT TERRI, CEEZA MILLI AND SPOTLESS

The all-star Wizkid popularly known as Starboy ‘Soco’ unfolds like a song on steroids with its enchanting hook and easy verses serving as the party rocker at every event. Impressively, Starboy’s Soco audio reached over 20 million views on Youtube (No Nigerian audio has reached such views before). One of Nigerians greatest hitmaker of all time and his crew made one of the year’s hit song with a single worded chorus line “soco”. What does the word mean? Nobody really knows, but you’d have to have no pulse to resist dancing.

4. 'SCIENCE STUDENT'- OLAMIDE

The YBNL record label boss Olamide dropped the first certified hit song this year. Science Student audio dropped on the 11th of January and the video followed on the 25th of February 2018, and has reached over 10 million views on youtube as at now. By the time the video for this song was released, it had already claimed its share of notoriety. Though it got banned. But it got played by fans any times over and the acclaimed slang and dance for the song still rings in the heart of all who hears it.Student’- Olamide

4. 'THIS IS NIGERIA' - FALZ

Falz stepped out of his comical character to give a serious take on happenings in the country and it turned out not just as one of the biggest viral songs this year but also one of the most influential moments in pop culture history. Crucially, this song makes the top 10 because of its social conscious lyrics which Nigerian pop music lacks at the moment. The controversial cover to “This Is Nigeria” by Falz was released on 25th of May, 2018 and has reached 15 Millions views and counting. This year Kizz Daniel gave us a new album alongside plenty of collaborations and ‘Baba’ was one of the songs that we could not stop dancing to all year. This is one of the soundtracks for the dance and rock party. The song was mostly about showing how rich one is and needs to keep spending but also paying acknowledgement to God the greatest “Baba” of all times.

7. LEGBEGBE - MR REAL

This song  was inspired by an incident involving the fraudulent purchase of several iPhones from a tech hub in Lagos. Though a true life story of a tragic and painful event but a lesson for us to all learn what the country is becoming in terms of fraud. The song and its rythm indirectly catapulted the previously unknown singer Mr Real to fame.

8. ‘DIET' - DJ ENIMONEY FT TIWA SAVAGE, REMINISCE AND SLIMCASE

This controversial single rumbles with infectious hooks, dope melodies and candy street slangs.It is impossible to say who stole this song. All of the verses as supplied by rapper Reminisce, singer Tiwa Savage and shaku-shaku sensation Slimcase are remarkable. The beat by Sarz immediately commands attention. 9. 'AMAKA' - 2BABA FT PERUZZI

The legendary singer 2baba pops up again and this time he is well assisted by the sensation Peruzzi to deliver this simple, catchy and relatable record that igerians, it is good pop music. at best rolls out of your mouth like a burst of pure pop goodness. With ‘Amaka’, he captures another relatable episode: a guy is frustrated at a no-show girlfriend who keeps posting and disappointing. 10. 'JOROMI'- SIMI

The sweet voiced and talented singer simi released an all good work parked album “Simisola”. Despite the fact that all songs in the album was a hit the track ‘Joromi’ specially took to its peak in terms of most played and streamed. The song got all ladies mouth moving about who they love and needs to love them in return or keep loving them. From the sweet rhythmic verses and the chorus begging Joro to take her number got all fans in the love mood and groove move. The song was and is a good soul pop music for lovers.
